Recommended Reading/Listening
As I am often asked to recommend books on particular
topics, I thought it might be useful to summarise some
of my favourites. I have a personal preference for listening
to audio versions, rather than reading, as they utilise
dead time while driving.
Settle for Excellence – – Topher Morrison
Book. One of the best personal development books I’ve read. Says what many other “self-help gurus“ say, but in a wonderful way with great insights. Having worked with Topher (no relation) on a one-to-one basis, I am privileged to call him my friend. When he comes to the UK you must go hear what he has to say! www.tophermorrison.com
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen
Covey
Audio/book. Superb – the section on communicating/listening
is probably the best “training” audio I have
heard. Brilliant for both work and family life.
Maverick – Ricardo Semler
Book. Excellent, easy reading (like a novel). Inspiring
stuff if you want radical change in your company.
The Psychology of Achievement – Brian
Tracy
Audio. Don’t be put off by the title. He talks
about programming for success, goals and improving human
relationships. Excellent.
The World’s Greatest Salesman – Og
Mandino
Audio/book. Not what you might expect. A wonderfully
narrated story (with a religious bent) about a young
shepherd boy who receives 10 scrolls of wisdom. Focuses
on forming good habits. Not just about selling, but about
living positively.
Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
Audio/book. As much about enriching your life as your
wallet. A bit American and in a few parts a little dated,
but very interesting and worthwhile.
Mindstore – Jack Black
Audio. One of the few “published” UK (Scottish)
motivational speakers. Describes itself as the “ultimate
mental fitness programme”. Very interesting and
different, could be hugely powerful if used regularly.
Live Life with Passion – Anthony Robbins
Audio. Title covers it all. How to turn your dreams
into reality. Excellent.
Customers for Life – Carl Sewell
Book. The “ten commandments of excellent customer
service”. Easy read and very good for anyone involved
in sales.
Get Clients Now – C.J. Hayden
Book. A 28-day marketing programme for professionals
and service providers. An excellent, easy to read, practical
workbook.
Fully Alive, Fully Human – Ed Foreman
Audio. Ten “power habits for making your life
a masterpiece”. Business, personal and health issues.
Easy listening and humorous.
The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity – Catherine Ponder
Book. Metaphysical Stuff! Some may find the religious overtones too much, but a book packed with practical stuff as well. Produces great results for me!
Wink – Roger Hamilton
Book/Audio. Described as a “Modern Day Parable of Wealth Beyond Words” or as I like to call it a modern day “Wink and Grow Rich” book. Anyone serious about creating real wealth should also check out Roger Hamilton’s Wealth Dynamics Profiling. www.wealthdynamics.org
